Baking and Babies

What do babies and baking have in common...?
Baking is a thoughtful, grounding, in the present activity for me.  After baking bread, cakes, muffins, cookies...I feel more centered. I'm not sure if it is the ritual of repeating maternal sights and sounds I grew up with that calm me, the aromas,  or the  exact  measuring necessary.....is it the nourishing of my family...or all of the above.

'What if I delve into adventure in all aspects of my life?' -Peter Gilroy, Artist and Designer
This quote from the American Craft Council member got me thinking--so I did! Baking Adventure 101!

My gramma and my mom were avid bakers. I must have inherited the B gene! When my two children were born, I went on a baking extravaganza that only let up (a bit!) when I went back to work. In fact, we still laugh and say that was why I went back to work after 6 weeks- tooooo much baking! My first grandchild was born in January, William Tanner, and I've hit the turbo-baking trail again! Only this time I've upped my game. I have ordered 6-yes 6-new bundt pans, a cake spatula and tart pan. My fav is a dragon pan-and actually I sent that one to my daughter in Monroe, Oregon. Dragons are the high school mascot there. And I'm using an assortment of flours for different crumble. It is fun!

New pans, new recipes,
new attention to detail.
Most important,
new life!
What an adventure!!!
