You know how it is when song lyrics play over and over in your head...mild obsession is what I remember from my college psychology class. The song Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel kept popping in the other day for some unknown reason...so I titled this latest piece just that- Sound of Silence. I do think the lyrics are some of the most beautiful around. These photos are the piece in stages. It is one of the larger paintings I've done lately, 2'x3'. Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left it's seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains within the sound of silence In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a street lamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed By the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs That voices never share And no one dare Disturb the sound of silence "Fools" said I, "you do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you" But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon God they made And the sign flashed out it's warning And the words that it was forming And the sign said "The words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls" And whispered in the sound of silence

You know I can't help myself when it comes to the front porch-! I love to decorate it! For a total of $3.50 I've got a winter sweater weather look. Plus it was fun to make. I used a straw wreath, an old sweater of mine, and some felt flowers that I bought. I did the stitching while watching the good wife on TV – a perfect Sunday evening project. Tomorrow I'll undecorated my Christmas look – by the was one of my favorites--Snowflakes and white lights and get the wintery sweater weather look out. " I am learning to see. I don’t know why it is, but everything enters me more deeply and doesn’t stop where it once used to. I have an interior that I never knew of. Everything passes into it now. I don’t know what happens there." Rainer Maria Rilke Begin Again. The universe speaks. My message received. Maui, Hawaii trip. 2016.
Baldwin Road excursion led us to an afternoon of earthly and heavenly delight. I walked three labrynths--the last with the message "Begin Again". Thank you, universe. My hubby and I spent twelve fun days exploring the island of Maui, Hawaii. So much fun! I've edited the get-away to my favorite TOP FIVE EVENTS we experienced during the stay. In no particular order... 1. Kula Lodge. Overlooks the isthmus connecting east and west Maui. 2. Road to Hana. West Maui Loop. Breathtaking. 3. 24 Mile Bikeride. Down the crater. Thru the Kula perfume bottle land. With BEST GUIDE EVER! 4. Baldwin Road. I walked THREE labrynths: one in a jungle, a lava rock outdoor and a coral lined walk. ...Begin Again... Lifechanging. 5. Momma's Fish House. Complete Foodie Experience. With FRIENDS! |
